According to this fella Lingard wanted to come but MU blocked it.

I agree with Hermit on this. I don’t see why anyone would not understand Lingard’s desire to stay and give his lifelong, hometown club one more shot. I wish him well. We helped him get his career back on track and we both got something out of it. We’re both moving on.

Re: Lingard in England squad
Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has rejected the offer of a new contract at Old Trafford amid concerns over game time.

The England international snubbed the chance to return to West Ham over the summer despite the guarantee of chances to play. Lingard was determined to stay at Manchester United and prove his worth to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Lingard is now into the final year of his £100,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford and will be able to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season if no agreement is found.

Re: Lingard in England squad
I'm not annoyed with Lingard at all. He should want to stay there and fight for a place. He's a good player, he's from Manchester and he's played for them all his life. Not only that but he will don better financially if he sees out his contract.

I'm also not bothered that we didn't sign him. I think a player of his age on a fat, long contract would be a burden for us.

We’ll get him on loan in January then a free at the end of the season! Once he’s re- assessed and seen OGS is taking the piss!

Who gives a flying fuck what he does or where he goes? He had a few good games for us and a few iffy ones.

He.turned us down and we got Vlasic instead, who is younger and was actually happy to join.
Get over it FFS.

Re: Lingard in England squad
I don’t think Lingard is stupid. He must know he’s not going to get game time at Man United same as everyone else knows it.

I reckon it’s more about wages and transfer fee, which goes decidedly in his favour just be running down the clock for 4 months.

Re: Lingard in England squad
He will barely play for Man United this season. Admire the blokes optimism but Ole is bullshitting him.

Two goals against Andorra won’t change that.

Will be a wasted season for him unless he finally forces a move in Jan.

I see the point being made about moving on from Lingard but some of the responses here are like that of a jilted girlfriend….

Re: Lingard in England squad
You’re massively overestimating his talents. He was dogshit towards the end last season and it weren’t like he was playing all season to be burnt out.

6th choice?

Bollocks.

Lingard is confident. He probably fancies his chances of proving OGS and most other people wrong. I would agree with him, if he thought he was better than Rashford, Martial, Sancho, and since January, Bruno too.

Also, he now has a chance to train and play with Ronaldo, who was undoubtedly his hero when he was a Man U supporting lad. There was a suggestion of how he’s buzzing off Ronaldo’s presence in his celebration of the first goal.

I can’t be annoyed with him for wanting to give it one more go at his lifelong club.

If they continue to freeze him out, he may well opt for us, if we want him, and I wouldn’t have a problem with that, as long as he doesn’t take the piss with wage demands.

Re: Lingard in England squad
Fabianski said he overheard a phone call between Rice and Lingard where Lingard said he didn’t want to come back.

Very strange how he’d rather be about 6th choice in his position at Man Utd.

Fuck him.
